Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

In pursuit of its strategy for evaluating performance, assessment, accreditation, and the continual improvement of higher education institutions, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in Bangalore recommends the establishment of an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) for all accredited institutions as a post-accreditation measure to sustain quality. As a continual process, the IQAC is intended to seamlessly integrate into the institution's framework and actively contribute to achieving the objectives of enhancing and sustaining quality. The primary responsibility of the IQAC is to formulate a system that ensures conscious, regular, and catalytic improvements in the overall performance of the institution. Throughout the post-accreditation period, the IQAC will direct the institution's efforts and initiatives towards fostering comprehensive academic excellence.

The guidelines outlined in the subsequent pages serve as directives to assist institutions in establishing and operating their Internal Quality Assurance Cells. The IQAC's role marks the initial phase of internalizing and institutionalizing quality enhancement initiatives. Its efficacy hinges on fostering a sense of belonging and active participation among all constituents of the institution. It is not designed as another hierarchical structure or a mere record-keeping endeavor but rather as a voluntary, facilitative, and participative entity within the institution. The IQAC holds the potential to function as a mechanism for driving quality enhancement by implementing planned interventionist strategies to address deficiencies and elevate overall quality, akin to the concept of "Quality Circles" in industrial settings.

The central goal of IQAC is

• To establish a framework for purposeful, regular, and catalytic initiatives aimed at enhancing the academic and administrative effectiveness of the institution.
• To advocate initiatives that steer institutional practices towards quality improvement by fostering a culture of quality and institutionalizing exemplary methods.

IQAC will formulate mechanisms and processes to

• Ensure the punctual, effective, and progressive execution of academic, administrative, and financial responsibilities.
• Assess the relevance and caliber of academic and research programs.
• Facilitate fair accessibility and affordability of academic programs for diverse societal segments.
• Optimize and integrate contemporary teaching and learning methodologies.
• Enhance the credibility of evaluation procedures.
• Guarantee the sufficiency, upkeep, and judicious distribution of support structures and services.
• Facilitate the dissemination of research findings and establish connections with other institutions, both nationally and internationally.

IQAC will facilitate / contribute to

• Establishing a heightened level of transparency and concentration in institutional operations to foster quality improvement.
• Embedding a culture of quality throughout the institution.
• Amplifying and synchronizing various activities within the institution and formalizing all commendable practices.
• Offering a robust foundation for decision-making to augment institutional operations.
• Operating as a dynamic system for introducing quality improvements in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
• Constructing an orderly approach to documentation and internal communication
